Five Sense Grounding Techniques (5-4-3-2-1)

Anxiety is something most of us have experienced at least once in our life. Public speaking, stress at work, social situation, trauma, family/relationship problems are just some of the few situations that can cause anxious feelings.

Here is a simple exercise you can practice anywhere:

Acknowledge the following:

  • Find five things you see around you.
  • Four things you can hear.
  • Three things you can touch.
  • Two things you can smell.
  • One thing you can taste.

Grounding mindfulness exercises are techniques designed to bring you back into the present moment and your current surrounding. It helps to reduce anxiety and promotes calm.

The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now.
